These sculptures are containers of other objects, but they are hidden from sight and touch in the final form. yet as each layer accumulates it impacts on the next until the final, polished sculpture actually reflects the shape of the innermost core. Perhaps as we ourselves accumulate layers of experience which impact on our ‘face’ to the world. They are also about loss – loss of the past, with the only memory being a photograph of what was. Making the sculptures is a process of destruction, but also of growth and change.
